Strangely enough, I often found it cheaper to eat out rather than doing my own food shop while living in Vancouver. Groceries can be pretty expensive (don’t get me started on cheese prices) so here are a few recommendations for cheap and, most importantly, tasty eats in Vancouver.
The Dime Granville
With a $5.95 menu you really can’t turn your nose up at this. Part of The Warehouse Group, all food at The Dime is $5.95 – all day, every day.
Some of my favourites include, BBQ chicken sandwich, maple perogies and the wings.
The Pawn Shop
The Pawn Shop is a taco and tequila bar on Granville Street with a mean happy hour. Every day between 3 and 6pm you can get as many tacos as you like for a whooping $1 each, plus daily drinks specials. Now that’s a bargain.
Address: 1117 Granville St
The Dosa Factory is a South Indian style restaurant based in East Vancouver. They have a delicious menu and offer over 100 varieties of Dosa. Visit on a Monday and receive any Dosa, served with a small dessert, for $5.99!
Be prepared to wait though, there’s often a line-up outside on Monday’s due to this awesome deal.

You really are spoilt for choice in Vancouver when it comes to sushi. It’s a hugely popular dish here and is an inexpensive option for eating out. My local is a place called Sushi Loku, located on East Broadway. They have a large menu with lots of options; I recommend checking out their speciality rolls, which start from $5.95.
